Special Education Teacher � 225-day school year / Full Time

Whitney Academy, Inc. – East Freetown, MA

As a Special Education Teacher, you will provide classroom instruction and lesson planning, at a 1st to 5th grade level and supervision of assigned teacher’s aide in a six student, self-contained classroom. Other requirements include excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills, the ability to build relationships with parents, family members and guardians, and the ability to motivate others to work as a team to achieve excellence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting evaluations in preparation for IEP development
  • Using the results to develop measurable IEP's
  • Developing clear and concise written protocols
  • Monitoring IEP related programs to ensure accurate and consistent implementation
  • Collecting and summarizing data
  • Supervising and training paraprofessionals working in the classroom and maintaining communication with sending school districts and parents

Requirements:

  • Massachusetts Special Education licensure in grades 5-12 required and a Master’s degree required or in process.
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Possess a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • RMV, CORI and DSS checks required
