This weekend 1/28/2022 there is a severe winter storm advisory warning. This storm has been escalated from a snowstorm to a blizzard. Driving conditions will not be ideal and visibility will be low. We want to keep everyone’s safety in mind. The safety of those working this weekend, as well as the safety of our students is paramount.
- First, we are allowing staff to sleep at their assigned residence. We will also make extra food and snacks available to help reduce the need to travel. While sleeping at the residence is of course optional, those who choose to do so should bring their own bedding material. Also, anyone who chooses to sleep at any residence will be paid at straight-time, up to 10 hours prior to their shift (sleep shifts). Please contact your Unit Director if you do want to sleep at the residence.
- Secondly, anyone working this weekend (Friday third shift, through Sunday first shift) will get a $50 stipend for each day they work, this weekend.
- Lastly, any overtime this weekend will be paid at the double time rate
While many of these incentives are monetary, we are doing our best to provide accommodation such as food and lodging under these circumstances. It’s vital that we stand by and support each other during this challenging time. Please, prepare for power outages, difficult driving conditions, and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Kevin S. Marques
