Once again, we are expecting snow. The following plan is only in effect if a formal text alert has been sent out sharing the link to this page. The text message will specify exactly which shifts qualify for early reporting based on the storm’s timing.
Our Priority: Student Care and Staff Safety
At Whitney Academy, our students require dedicated, 24/7 care. We also know that your safety is just as important. To ensure no one is left “stuck” at a house or struggling to commute during the height of a storm, we have put the following plans in place to support you.
Early Reporting Options
- Arrive Early, Stay Safe: To ensure adequate staffing coverage and help you avoid dangerous travel, qualifying staff members may report to their assigned house up to 8 hours prior to their shift start.
- Example: If the alert specifies Sunday 2nd shift, those employees may arrive up to 8 hours early to beat the snow.
- Staffing Support: Additional shifts are being made available across all houses to prevent any single team from being understaffed or overworked during the weather event.
Compensation & Rates
Staff who report early to support the team and our students will be compensated as follows:
- Time and a half if you are working overtime in ratio.
- Standard rate of pay if you are not currently in ratio.
Accommodations & Supplies
We want you to be as comfortable as possible while you are here:
- All houses are fully stocked with extra food, blankets, and linens.
- We encourage you to bring any personal items or overnight essentials you may need to feel prepared.
Thank you for your incredible flexibility and your continued commitment to the safety of our students and your fellow team members.
